Professor Tsiotras' research efforts deal with the theoretical development and validation of nonlinear and optimal control laws for a variety of aerospace systems. He has authored or co-authored more than 250 articles in these areas. His recent thrust has been on vehicle autonomy, focusing in particular on the development of path-planning algorithms for autonomous navigation and guidance with minimal human intervention. Tsiotras is director of the Dynamic and Control Systems Laboratory (DCSL) and is also affiliated with the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Machines (IRIM).
